Winterize next weekend

Well i guess i will go to the lake next weekend to winterize the camper and the boat.Then put the boat up for winter.I dont like winter.Just waiting on the srping to get here

Since I only add SeaFoam and run the motor for about 20 minutes I'm holding off as long as possible. Might even be early December if the weather holds.

Change gear oil (inspect for water while you do so), grease all zerk fittings and prop shaft, and remove the battery and store it somewhere you can conveniently give it a charge every month or two.

I got all my stuff, just got to do it. Suppose to get crappy outside this afternoon, so I might pull it ahead in the boat port and do it later on. I need to touch up some spots on the pontoons where the polish was rubbed off by breaching it, yet too. Adjusted the trailer bunks to fit the boat better yesterday. None of the pontoons were centered in the bottom of the V bunks. And the back of the trailer was too low, so the front of the pontoons, behind the nosecones were about an inch of the trailer. Took alot of pressure to cinch down the bow, to trailer it to Missouri. Now its resting flat on the trailer.

Copy, but why gear oil? Do they tend to leak? Should be simple enough: drain pan, screw driver/wrench, drain, wait, wait, plug, fill.

Serpa, the reason is because not only can the gear lube out, but water can leak in. Easy, pull the drain and vent plugs. Let her drain then fill through the drain plug. When the gear lube starts coming out of the vent, put in the vent plug and then the drain plug. You may loose just alittle between the plugs, but not enough to worry about. Unless you take a 20 minute beer break between the 2 plugs.
Just got mine done. Took about 2 1/2 hours for all the filters, engine and lower unit oils checking the pencil coils and waxing the entire outboard. She is ready for next spring!
Verado Owners....
Tilt the engine up and back down before draining the oil, and when adding the last quart. The oil gets caught on the oil pan baffle in the rear of the engine. If its not raised and lowered, you'll end up with and extra quart in the engine. I read this in the manual from the VeradoOwnersClub and tested it, Its true!
Also when changing the small inline filter... Push the red clips IN to release it from the fuel lines.
