I'm really tired at looking and my old railings and want to replace them. I've never liked the look of the standard railings and wanted something different. I considered steel tubing but the weight seems a bit to much. Anyone else try something that turned out looking nice?

Sounds as if you need a new boat.

1 1/4" aluminum square tubing is readily available, and it's a little easier to bend and fabricate than steel--if you have a TIG welder.

Any boat's railings can be reconfigured. You're only limited by your imagination.

I believe so. I actually took the pics from a thread we had awhile back on the fiberglass logs. I briefly tried to google the website but no luck.

I'm still hoping for something that looks better but I'll try this if something better doesn't come up. Should be easy to remove the old sheet metal and clean up the old railings. The fabric seems like and easy DIY project for the winter. At least it won't dent from the asian carp.

I just replaced the fence on my toon. It was a b.tch... I took the fence sheeting up to the top of the rail and used rivets. It looks real good, just a lot of work.

I've got some FischerPrice child gates left over from my first Pontoon. I'll let ya have em real cheap.

Anyone know how to remove the metal panels from the railings of a 1986 Bass Buggy? Looks like the railing is a two part piece and the panels are inserted before welding the two pieces together. If that's the case, it seems the only way to get the panels out would be to cut a big piece out of the middle and pry the edges out with a pair of plyers. Thoughts?

The panels are usually crimped into the railing before form bending the units as a hole. Get a good still three or four inch putty knife with a fairly sharp edge and using a hammer gently drive it under the crimp to loosen the hold. You'll haft to go along the entire perimeter of the panels to loosen them to remove. And even at that especially at corners it is easiest to cut it into small sections to actually pull it out of the seam.
