Need some help finding an unusual item for a boat cover

I won't go into a long drawn out explanation, but my pontoon cover was damaged and I have to find the round foam insert that goes into the bottom of the cover just below where the snaps are. I believe it's there to provide a kind of strain relief for the cover as you pull it down to snap it to the boat.
The guy I took the cover to to be repaired can only find the 1/2" diameter foam and he says what's in there now is 1".
Does anyone have any idea where to get this stuff?
Thanks in advance for any help!

You can go online and search for foam rubber. Any type, thickness, size and firmness required is available.

I warn you that good quality foam rubber is very expensive stuff. If you need a specific pattern to fit your need, it's often cut with a electric kitchen knife.

Bamaman, this stuff is cylindrical and goes in the hem near the bottom of the cover. I understand it's sometimes used in vehicles at the edge of the headliner. I think I found a supplier online. The guy who is working on the cover doesn't have access to the internet, so I'm trying to find it.
I asked the dealer where I bought the boat about a new cover and he said it's somewhere north of $1,500, plus the labor to apply the snaps, plus they have to have the boat and I'm 100 miles from them and no trailer.

Carl, I haven't done that yet. Might give that a try next week.
Thanks!
