Boatin in Dec!!!!!

#1 Post by TSully980 » Mon Dec 24, 2012 7:31 pm

Went down to the lake this past weekend. LOTO's that is and on Saturday the weather was so nice. It was 60 degrees out. So........... I thought why not. Got the boat out for about an hour. We were the only ones out on the lake. Water was glass, no wind and as long as you were in the sun not to cold at all. I did like the fact that I was able to run the thing at least once during the winter months and not have it sit all winter and then wondering come spring if everything will be ok. Started right up, ran just fine and I went for a boat ride a couple of days before christmas!!! Cool!

I put my boat back in the water 2 weeks ago and moved it back into its boathouse. It was a beautiful, warm afternoon and there were just a couple of boats out.

Today was too busy to get out on the water, but the weather was nice enough at almost 60 degrees. We saw 68 degrees yesterday.

We look for more rain tomorrow--part of the big system going thru the U.S. We feel for the people a little north that are getting slammed with a serious winter storm. Snow is expected pretty far south in the coming day or so.

Just lookin' forward to March 1st . . . . . . . . .

Sully, I don't think you'd want to be on the water the last couple of days. Not unless you had a full enclosure, insulated coveralls, boots & gloves. Definitely not nice.
Merry Christmas!

Ponch... here in n.w. la, it was in the upper 60's, low 70's last week. Took the week off for christmas thinking I'd get a day or two of boating in after christmas. Not gonna happen, only in the upper 40's and 50's the rest of this week... too damn cold for me to be on the lake.... but I may back the boat down the launch and fire her up and let her run for 10 minutes or so.. partly just to fire the engine, and secondly to make sure the fuel treatment / stabilizer I'm going to use gets all the way thru the system....

I lived in Illinois for 30 some years and then moved south to get away from cold and snow.
We live in Eastern Oklahoma and had 6" of snow dumped on us Christmas Day.

Yep. Jealous of the Southern Boys right now.
We just hit a heat wave and managed to climb above zero for the first time in 3 days.
Curiously, the beer still tastes just about as good on a dry boat at ten below zero. Just gotta sip a little faster before it slushes over. :drink4

We have about 10" total on the ground right now. 1 hr. south off us they have over 15". Last year I didn't even get the snowblower out.

Here's what I was doing today.
