starting engine

:| turn key get humming sound, turn 3 or 4 more times engine starts, it is 1989 70 hp johnson starter, battery, selanoid newbie

Bendix is sticking. Pull cowel and spray some light oil on shaft so gear moves freely

+1 on the bendix sticking. Make sure you use a light oil not grease.

#2, bendix, Don't use WD40, use some good ole 3&1 oil.

Rumor has it, that it's the bendix.
I think the bendix is hanging up on my snow-blower, and this is NOT a good time to lose electric start on the snow blower at an elevation of 9,000 feet above sea level!!!
