Looking for a new pontoon boat...HELP!!!

#1 Post by IMHB » Thu Feb 28, 2013 8:01 pm

OK guys, I can use some help....
I am looking for a "HARD CORE" fishing pontoon boat.18 or 20 feet long with a single axel trailer. I don't want a top and I don't want a toilet room. If I could find one, I would prefer a driving station in the center of the boat, but if it's on the side that's OK.
NO furniture at all..just a flat deck, and I want to install a bow mounted trolling motor.
Probably put at least a 90 or 115 HP Yamaha four stroke on it..
Any help will be appreciated...
Harry

Sounds as if you need to find a good used pontoon boat that needs seats and carpet, and reconfigure it to your needs.

You don't often see more than 90 horsepower on a 20' boat, and 18' or shorter pontoons are not big sellers. Most think 20' is the shortest length for a seaworthy hull.

I don't know if manufacturers are willing to sell boats without seats, tops, etc.

There are a number of pontoon boat kits that would suit your needs, but they appear to be East of the Mississippi River--far from California.

Your best bet would be to find a used one and strip it off, I mostly use mine to fish and thats what I did , and rebuilt it like I wanted.
If it aint broke your not having enough fun

Are you thinking new or used?? If you are looking at new, you should be able to order with furniture delete. What else are you going to do with the boat? How rough is the water you will be boating on???

This sounds like the kind of thing you're after - but it's a 21ft and can only take a 60hp.

Sounds like you need a crest. The wave fish model is available in a center console with out a bunch of seats in the way.

My wife and I found the http://www.pontoonboatguide.com to be extremely helpful when researching for our upcoming pontoon purchase. It lets you compare different brands & models of pontoons side by side. Obviously we want the best bang for our buck and want a dependable boat, so getting to compare different makes and models goes a long ways. Good luck on your search!
