Kill switch trouble

On the lake today we had a little problem. Some how my kill switch came loose and when I tried to reinstall it it broke in half. Wound up calling dealer for help. Chris had to crawl under console and cut the wire so we could start motor. After loading on trailer he had to crawl under to reattach so motor would shut off. Sure was worried there as I don't know how we would have gotten back to ramp.

That's always an eye opener. I had a couple mechanical difficulties last year. Made me glad I wasn't solo out there.

That's intresting. I know that the kill switch will keep the boat from starting or running and that they are made from cheap plastic. But I did not know that they if disconnected would eliminate shutting off the motor. I thought the key would do that. Am I wrong on this or is it a must be hooked up to control your motor.

He removed the ground , so it must have failed in kill mode, yes that would suck with no tools to fix it

Good to know. I did not even think about it disabling the key if it broke. I knew it would not start but did not know it won't shut off either.
