Hello All,
We will be closing and picking up a 2007 Princecraft 20L Vantage (with a brand new Load Rite single axle w/disc brakes trailer) in a week or so :prayer . We re looking for boat insurance and have gotten 3 quotes. All seem to be using the same "model" because they are all very similar coverage at the same (within $10.00) premium cost. The three quotes are from Geico, BoatUS and some "off name" (I can't remember the name, it is from the marina selling us the boat) insurance. I am interested to hear from you what your opinion is of these or any other company you may suggest. What would you do if you were in my shoes. Thank you so much for your time and answer...

Sincerely,
Rich

I would go with Boat US. They have insurance including towing your trailer in case of a road breakdown without having to pay and get reimbursed. Geico spends too much on commercials like the pharma companies and Boat Us is all about boats.

BoatUS has been good for me. they have a lot to offer depending on what you need based on where you will be going, Tow insurance cost is very good. I haven't filed a claim, but I've talked to others who have and they were happy. I tried doing a group with my cars, and house with my other insurance company and they couldn't offer what BoatUs did and BoatUs beat them on cost. Just my 2cents.....

After 17 years of claim free renewals with Boat US, I went with Progressive, get an online quote, you'll be surprised.

if you see Flo, say hi, and smack her on the ass for me. :lol3

I don't have Boat U.S. but I would say go with them. We have Farm Bureau for the toon, house and car.

For my boat insurance I took out a policy with Progressive... don't remember what the initial premium was, but there was a discount if you paid the year in full, which I did... total cost was $125.00 I thought that was pretty reasonable.

My insurance company (State Farm), despite having home and cars bundled, said Boat US would probably be better rate. We went with them, plus like the towing (on-water and trailering).

I've had State Farm for pretty much everything for almost 40 years. We have a terrific agent and excellent service despite a couple of difficult situations. It was great to have him to at least talk with.

When we bought the new Bennington I got their quote and then compared coverages with Boat US. It was very clear that Boat US offered a better policy with Agreed Value coverage (stated value, no depreciation), among other things like spill liability coverage. State Farm could have done all that but it would have required separate liability policy (umbrella) and a stated value special rider. In the end he agreed the Boat US policy would be a better option and I put that one in force. Cost was about the same. They were very easy to deal with and adjusted some of the coverages for my specific needs. Time will tell, but I'm happy with how the handled it so far.

I'm with Travelers, but all my insurance with with them. May check out Boat US as lots of good stuff has been said here.

All that said, I wouldn't hesitate to give Progressive a call if for no other reason than last summer what a guy hit my boat and cracked my engine cowling they took care of it without any issues on my side. Even paid the local shop the extra 50 bucks to go out to my boat to put the new cover on so I wouldn't have to pull my boat out of the water.

I have no idea if they hassled their customer, but it was as easy as could be for me.
