I need to replaced all 4 tires on our trailer since I noticed some fine cracks an all of them. My two spares are have been stored in the barn and are dated two years newer than my 6 year old ones on the trailer. I can have just the tires (New Zealand made Marathons) replaced on the current rims at Discount Tire for $445 (Chinese like my spares). For $324 I can go down to Sam's Wholesale and pick up rims and tires from Greenball Transmaster.
Anyone ever heard of those? We only pull long hauls occasionally.
They are ST185/80R13

Drago... i've never heard of them... I've read some good things about Kendra Load star ST tires..... I looked for your size on etrailer.com and they have the kendra load star in your size with the rim for approx 115.00 per..... hope this helps.

Thanks for the input. It's really a pretty dumb thought - to try to save a few bucks on tires. If there ever was a weak link in the chain, it is the tires on the ground. The Marathons are most likely as good or better than no-name tires. I think I'll go ahead and have Discount Tire put new rubber (Goodyear Marathons) on my existing rims. I think it was $435 drive out.
Speaking of age, it's weird to look back at dates one did things.
We picked up the boat on 2/7/08
The date on serial# of boat looks like 7/07
The Yamaha motor date tag is 5/06
The EZ Loader trailer date tag is Jul 07
Original Marathon tires 10th & 12th week 2006 I guess they were on a slow boat from New Zealand
Two spare tires date indicate 2008 (Chinese)
I suppose 7 years on the Marathon tires before developing cracks is pretty good. They only began to show this Spring.
The only protection from the sunlight was the 303 Protectant I sprayed on twice a year.
