I really like the minn Kota talons myself, my favorite feature is that they have quick relese hinges and plugs so they are removable in a matter of seconds...if your like me and have more than one boat, you can buy extra mounting brackets and mount them on your other boat and move the talons from boat to boat...the same goes for the minn Kota ipilot trolling motor, it has the quick disconnect plate so you only need one trolling motor for as many boats that have the adapter plate....I see money being spent in my future!!!

I love it
Been kinda kickin around getting a new toon set up for fishing more than cruising. Being we are shallow water boaters now That set up would be great.

It's for sure a fishing rig, I do a lot of shallow water fishing myself from a toon and the talons would really make it easier. Pontoons catch so much wind it sometimes a pain but these would solve that!

Dam 1200.00 a piece for auto anchors, I hate to ask how much the TM is with auto pilot, I should have married a woman with a good job

Ya, that's the price for that luxury I guess. I know the ipilot tm in 101# thrust is around $2,000... I know it's alot but if it will make my fishing experience more enjoyable I'm willing to sacrifice

Damn! Damn! Triple damn!!! No way I can convert this benni to a fishing boat, but I definitely would like that ipilot for the Charger bass boat. We get a lot of wind here at LOTO and I enjoy fishing on the windy points, but I don't like having to keep my foot on the trolling motor pedal to power and steer. My 74# thrust MK is good enough, so maybe I'll see what one of them goes for.
I guess the old trolling motor is going to have a fatal illness.

I think the 80# thrust ipilot goes for around $1000

I stopped in at a place that sells/repairs MinnKota stuff. The 80# thrust, 60" shaft for 24VDC power is right at $1,600 installed. He said MinnKota is offering an $80 rebate in the form of a debit card for some time, woo hoo!.
I mentioned that I would then have to sell my current 74# thrust Maxxum rig and he said he had a note that somebody was looking for the exact rig I have right now. I wonder how much I could get for it?
Oh, well! I can dream, right?

Yeah, I got the MK Riptide ST with iPilot and it was pricey. But YIKES a pair of those Talons are outragously expensive! The anchor feature of the iPilot was pretty good (and FUN to watch), but the iPilot seamed to drift off course a bit more than I would like. I need to play with it more to get a better feel for it, though.

If you fish often in a toon both a good trolling motor and the talons would make life easier if your fishing shallow (7' and less). I just got home from the lake with a friend of mine, he has a 20' toon and we fought the wind all day... We were crappie fishing and even in the protected cuts we where in the wind still made it's way in there and pushed us around. I don't like to anchor when I crappie fish because I feel as it scares off the fish before you get a bait in the water, but the talons would solve this with quick and quite stopping power, and if it was to deep for that just use the ipilot to hold you in position.... Bassn 1600 is to much, shop around a lil before you pull the trigger.... The guy I fished with today said overtons has the 101 thrust 36volt for $1600 after the rebate... I wouldn't pay them to install it myself, it's as simple as it gets to install a trolling motor
