TRANSDUCER MOUNTING

#1 Post by douglasnc » Wed Apr 03, 2013 6:29 pm

Hi all ,Anyone know a good way to mount a transducer up front where your most likely fishing and keep it safe.Don't have a trolling motor, and it have to come up while running at speed.Would be nice to see that shallow water before the prop finds it also. Thanks

You've got to be fishing in pretty shallow water and running kind of hard. Most pontoons have about a 22" draft, so you must be partying hard to not be aware of the getting into the shallows.

All the above BADMOON..I've lost several props 200 yards off shore on Jordon Lake.Water depth really changes fast there. Great fishing lake, but shallow for the most part to be as large as it is...This is my first pontoon, so it may not be as bad as that 20' v-bow was...Still like to be able to see fish up front where we fish instead of behind us...Wonder if that mount can be left in water while running or needs to be raised for higher speeds. Thanks all!

douglasnc, that's how it is here in Lake Michigan's Green Bay. Water levels have dropped consistently for decades, and you can be in 3' of water 1/2 mile off shore. And for many areas there are pretty narrow unmarked channels. I don't have a depth finder yet, but I'll add one.
