I've always wanted to do this on my other boats but never got around to doing so. But my desire to go with led bulbs was primarily based on their longevity and efficiency as a side benefit they're also a great deal brighter.
I changed out all three nav lights and my interior floor lights. The only incandescents are in the gauges now. Replacement led component bulbs were bought at superbrightleds.com with the five bulbs coming in at $37 shipped
Now I have super bright lights that will essentially never burn out that can be left on for weeks without draining a battery. All in all a nice sub $50 mod
I can provide part #'s for the bulbs if ya want although I'm sure they differ from boat to boat.

Thanks; my barge has 6 old school overhead lights on the upper sundeck. I don't use them much because they drain too much juice. About those part numbers...

So can you just swap out bulbs, or do you need some other type of device to lower the wattage along the way.

Yep, just swap out a bulb, with a comparable based LED. The only time you need any type of load drop, is when dealing with blinkers. Most times, if you replace your cars blinkers with LED's, the flasher thinks you have a bulb burnt out, because of the such low resistance, and the flasher either won't flash, or it will flash really fast.

Been a while, I know. Been busy at work, moving to a new house, and trolling gun sites.curtiscapk wrote:GXPWeasel wrote:peedee wrote:So can you just swap out bulbs, or do you need some other type of device to lower the wattage along the way.
