Got 3 - 4' sheets of 063 cut 4' 9-1/2 " long and 24' of 6" bent with a 4" x 2" 90 degree leg. Wont match the pretty bend Southbay puts on their underskin that came on the boat but Ill make it work.

Man, I want to do that to my Harris! Maybe next year. This year I have to make the wife happy and make it pretty with new seats.

Well, heres a before pic where I will need to slot the radius from the Southbay sheet so I can over lap and one of a full shot for the before and after comparison. Never noticed the black deflector before, at least I guess thats what they are . But not on every cross member. I will get some after as well.

.063 is some pretty extreme stuff. I used .032 (2024 T3) & it works just fine. I used a 2" fastner (SS self-tapping screws) spacing & still have found a few loose ones, mostly near the rear 1/3 toon (which has the engine on it).
Keep in mind that automotive pop-rivets (even the steel shank ones) are nowhere near as strong as a SS screw, they will work loose.

.032 seemed a bit thin to me but to each their own. Matches up to what Southbay uses for thickness, so if its good enough for them.... I also used stainless steel rivets . Southbay uses aluminum rivets but I used stainless steel, they had a broader grip range for my use.. I dont think they will work loose anymore than a screw can work loose from vibrations, if so i dont think the manufacturer would be using rivets. All the Southbays I saw with full skin were riveted.
I feel pretty good about the install.

We'll just have to suffer with whatever background is there I guess

Well, I wont be going up North to get pics this weekend. I forgot about Mothers Day and my daughters are coming to town to spend time with my wife. Last year I was 24-25 mph depending on wind , waves and weight. Dropped in with the new skins and ran right to a steady 27 with a few GPS ticks to 28.
Lake was calm , no wind, cool 50 ish morning which most likely helped a lot and full tank of fuel. I was happy . Did it mostly to stop the wave braking but any speed gains would be a plus.

2 mph is a good gain. Did the ride improve?

Agreed 2 mph is huge on a pontoon. I'd love to gain another 1-2. I just gained 4-5mph by getting my motor our of the water over 8 inches.
