i have a 2007 starcraft pontoon boat. Both logs are leaking at the rear brackets on both sides. (4 total leaks)
Starcraft uses a bracket that has a 2 inch bend where it attaches to the pontoon and the leaks seem to be coming from under the bracket. It only leaks about 10oz of water in 2 or 3 trips. Is it worth fixing or can it be fixed without removing the pontoons.

Welder should be able do it without removing the toons, and since you got it early it might be cheaper, that and he won't have to look for the leaks, if you haven't done it yet get a dish soap in a spray and pressurize your toons one at a time and locate and mark holes.

Use no more than 3 PSI, a shop vac on the blow side is enough to see leaks

I did a pressure test and found the leaks. Problem is you cant see where the leak is because the bubbles are coming from under the bracket. Its kind of hard to explain, but the bracket that attaches to the pontoon has a 2 or 3 inch lip. Then they weld the end of that lip to the log. The leaks seem to be coming from under that lip.I see bubbles but cannot see under the bracket (maybe a 1/16th in gap). I think a welder would have to remove the bracket completely to fix any crack. All 4 brackets are leaking the same way.

If this works: Have your fabricator weld in new brackets beside the leaks. Then, remove the old brackets and TIG weld the leaky places.

Your leak problem should be easily solved with a good welder that's experienced in TIG and aluminum welding.

OR, just have the welder weld all the way around the bracket. Then you didn't fix the actual hole, but you sealed everything around it, in essence, stopping the leak.

Aren't the toons under warranty? I have a 2005 Sweetwater Tuscany that had a leak and they paid the Marine Service shop near the lake to fix it, under there life time warranty to original owner. Just got it back last week end.

Im not the original owner. Called Starcraft and the rep said it may be covered untilt I mentioned i was the second owner. Took it to a welder today. He says he has to cut off the old brackets to get to the cracks and then weld them back in place. About $400.00 he estimates.

Does it have the RPT Logs?
