Wife and I are looking for a good cooler for the boat. There is a 120QT Coleman Xtreme that holds ice for 5 days in 90 degee heat that I want. She wants the Yeti. Normally id say yes to the yeti but all the videos i have seen with them campairing different coolers, i just cant see paying that much. Sooooo what do yall think and or use?

I've never had the Yeti but I use an Igloo and a Coleman, When I pre-cool them I have ice for two to three days.
It does matter if you have something covering them/or shade and how much they are opened and closed.
I just can't justify that much for a cooler when I can usually get ice to replenish relatively easy and MUCH cheaper.

We have to make a trip into town to get ice due to the icebox at the lake house is on the older end and has no ice maker so want to make sure we are good to go for 3-4 days

We use 2 Igloo Cube's 1 for drinks 1 for food. Food holds ice for the weekend drinks need iced down every day but with 6-10 on broad that's not bad. I do like the Yeti just can't see that kind of $$$ for a boat cooler.

I have a 110 quart yeti tundra, the thing I like about it is I can stand on it and feet a better view while sight fishing in the bay. I've never used it to hold ice for more than one day so I can't say how long it will hold ice but at the end of a day of fishing the ice has hardly melted....BUT I wouldn't spen the money on it myself, it was a gift!

We have a Coleman Xtreme that we use for camping and love it. As long as you have some shade and make sure to close the lid TIGHT after you get a drink, it will keep ice for 5 days. Ours has a long handle and wheels so it is easy to move.

If I win Power Ball, I'll buy a Yeti and let you know.

We have 2 Igloo Cubes, and I love them. They hold ice easilly for 2 days for us when camping, as long as they're in the shade. If on the boat constantly, then they hold ice for a good day, with several times of opening and closing. I try to be efficient in opening it, by asking if anyone else needs a drink while I'm going, or vise-versa.

The only complaint I have about the igloo coolers are that they are just slightly too tall to fit in the bed of my truck, and have the tonneau cover close completely, and lock. I do, however, have the flush mount tonneau, which doesn't stick up any higher than the side rails of the bed, so a normal top-mount tonneau, you wouldn't have this problem. Usually, I just haul the full coolers on the boat, and put things that may fly on the hwy in the bed of the truck.

Here's a five day 90 degree cooler for $100 bucks. I believe you can find all white ones at Costco...

I have 2 Coleman Xtreme 5 day coolers. They do hold ice for every bit of 5 days in 90-100 degree heat as long as they are kept shaded.

We have a couple different coolers. Use a 70qt when we need to keep stuff cold for the weekend. Works great. I lik the cub for the boat. Fits through he doors nicely and tucks behind the captains chair well. Some smaller and less insulating coolers get the drinks and food that are used first over the weekend.

You aren't the only one who has found this to be a problem. With a retractable tonneau, like the Retrax, they just sit too tall.

I don't know if a Yeti is actually worth the $$$ but it sure as heck would make for a with a 120 quart model coming in at 48 lbs. empty!! Fill the thing with ice, drinks, etc. one hast to wonder if a mortal man could lift the darn thing.

We actually use a igloo MaxCold 70 qt. model that is on wheels. It does ok on ice the wheel feature is nice and from experience it is plenty enough weight wise to deal with when I haft to lift and carry the thing packed for the weekend. As far as ice goes we save gallon milk containers year round for boating season. We freeze them and just smack them a bit with a hammer and then cut the ice free into the cooler with a utility knife. Usually the only time we haft to buy ice is when we anticipate mixing some cocktails for refreshment.

I've got refrigeration down cold...

1. Propane powered freezer to keep the pop sickles, Haagen Dazs dark chocolate/almond bars, mango sherbert frozen.

2. Fridge for the milk, eggs, veggies, etc.

3. Big Igloo 5 day cooler (Costco) - kept in the shade that I only open every other day or so - for all the adult beverages and Vodka.

4. Small cooler on wheels for the daily supply of above. Slide easily in and out of shade with the attached long handle.
