I was looking at the baystar kits and they only sell the non tilt helm pump in kit form. Do you have to buy all the components seperately to get the tilt helm ? Quite a bit more money that way .

You're better off with the Seastar steering.

Why is that ? Seastar comes with the tilt helm pump ?

Seastar is the heavier duty of the two. If you wanted to add power assist (you never know), you have to have the Seastar.

seastar is very easy to setup and if from scratch you may not need power assist, i got a 225 and no assist and wife drives it fine.

I just picked up a pontoon with SeaStar steering assist. Is it normal to hear a high pitched whine from the pump under the helm when I am turning the wheel? Steering assist is new to me.

Thanks

The whine is normal. It's working correctly.

Yep, when I had my 250 Verado on my Ranger all you could hear at trolling speeds was the power steering whine and a little hum from the supercharger.
