Just discovered a new issue with our new Sanpan. It has a duel battery setup with a "house battery" and 2 isolation switches back in the stern area. I have 8 hours on the boat now. Up until today, I had never beached the boat. Only cruising or tossing an anchor. When anchoring and stopping for an hour of lunch, I've noticed the house battery meter would drain a fair amount. Down a third or so in just an hour. Boat yard tech claims the deep cycle batteries behave this way. Today, we go to a favorite beach to have supper. The house system is on a master rocker switch. The only thing running was the stereo and Sirius radio that was plugged into the DC acc. outlet. Upon beaching the boat, the radio cut out. Then I noticed there was no light on at the house power rocker switch. Just not to take chances, I when back at the stern isolation switches and isolated the house system. Once we set sail, I reactivated the system and voila everything worked fine. Can I assume something is very wrong,,,perhaps something is looking for ground through the boat and finding it when we beached? Sorry for the long post. Jay.

Sounds as if it's something the selling dealership should be working to correct on a brand new boat.

Some thing is very bad wrong, I have a piddly little 6 amp charging system, and I run a 400 watt stereo, a 4 amp live well pump, black light, and nav lights for around 6 to 12 hours night fishing and it may run my group 27 battery down to 70 percent of full charge. It may use 30 % of a full charge.

nothing wrong with the sanpan brand. heck of a boat. not sure why you would need 2 switches with an isolator. we have a dual battery setup with an isolator and we run the fridge and radio for hours without any issues.

I have dual battery switch and beach all the time. Most times I forget to change over to the second battery and leave it on "ALL", I have NEVER had a battery problem. I leave stereo, GPS/fishfinder always on...

Same here.
Do you have a 120 volt charger or only the boat motor for charging ?

Both batteries charge from the engine. Each one has an isolation wafer switch in the stern area. I talked to the dealer this morning. He said they are going to go get the boat off the mooring and work the issue. Good on them. Good dealer so far. PDI inspection wasn't so hot.

If you have a smart switch the starter battier will charge first and then the house battier will charge. but lets wait and see what the dealer finds out and go form there. Something you may want to look into is a on board charger, all ways a full charge that way, makes it easier to have fun all weekend with no troubles. [knock on wood]
