Adding Accessory to Perco Switch

During the off season I had a second battery and a Perco switch installed. Recently I had a power winch installed, but it was apparently installed directly to a battery because it works with the switch in the off position. How do I re-wire so that the winch does run through the switch? I appreciate any help as this is my first full season as a pontoon owner.

Remove the wires from the battery and connect them on the terminals on your switch. That way the power will be controlled when the switch is on and off.

You will need to remove only the red wire for the winch from the battery and put it on the common terminal on the perko switch, leave the black on on the battery

can I use this type of switch to prevent one of my batteries from going dead while listening to the stereo? Then after the motor is started switch to both so it charges the stereo battery on the way back to the ramp. Sorry for the noob question but i've never ran 2 batteries before

Thats what that set up is for, altho you do not change the switch while the motor is running that can cause the charge regulator to be damaged. You listen to tunes on batts # 2 awhile then switch to both then start and run the motor awhile that will charge batt # 2.

Do not switch to both after the motor is started, it can fry your electronics. Switch to both prior to starting your motor. If one is dead it will pull from the one that is not and charge both while underway. Supposedly it's a big no no.
