Skinning or Under Skinning

I have a 2004 18' Triton Summit with a 50 HP Johnson 4 stroke. I was putting on new sonar/ GPS today and had to remove the old and route the new transducer. Pre owner had added under skinning to the left and right side of the rear around the transom. Had to remove and replace these panels to rout wires. Not a very good job in cutting the pieces but at least an attempt. This toon will do 20 mph at 5800 rpm now prop is 11 3/8 X 14 Solas alum. Is there any more to gain if I finish under skinning? Is the norm to do the whole bottom or just around the transom? Thanks.

It's hard to say whether you'll pickup any speed. It depends on where the waves off your nosecones are going (in the middle).

But your ride may be much smoother when waves are not hitting the crossmembers. And the ride will also be quieter.

I did not pick up any speed with under skinning, but i have heard of people picking up a mph or so with it. As Bamaman mentioned, the ride is much smoother and quieter. No more surge when in chop and when hitting wakes. It was worth it to me.
