hey guys

I have three seasense 6 gal gas tanks and I am tired of smelling fuel all the time .

all of them leak around the feed tube . I have tried every type of way I know to get them to stop but no luck . They build up pressure on warm days and start leaking , even if I leave the vent open they will still leak . so can anyone recommend a good brand

I have an Evinrude 6 gallon that don't leak. It cost $65.00 2 years ago

I have been using the Moeller tanks and no problems with them.

I have a moller tank also. I had a vent issue with it once but no leaking. Honestly, there shouldn't be any leaks at all. Since all three of your tanks leak maybe its your connector?

I have a Moller and mine has a vent issue as well. No matter how much I vent it, it leaks out the hose connection.

How old is your hose connection? I would replace it. It's not an expensive item. It can get worn out where it doesn't seal tight then leaks when pressure builds up.

Mine wasn't venting properly and got vapor lock where it looks like the tank is getting sucked in. I basically pulled the vent all the way off of the gas cap (oops, not that I meant to do that) then re-inserted a little. So it is fully extended now. You should keep the vent open all the time even when it's not in use.

Mine is leaking when its not hooked up , all three around the feed tube .

Before I buy the moellers I was thinking about putting that permatex sealant ( fuel resistant one ) around that plastic feed tube threads and sealing it permanently . Since I'm going to junk them anyways I can't hurt it

It leaks when its connected to the hose or not. The connection is brand new as is the tank. This is the first year with new EPA approved specs on them. My old one, does not leak.

I Googled Seasense 6 gal tanks & in the Amazon reviews people were blasting it about the leaking issue. One guy posted that he contacted Seasense and they sent him a newer version that had corrected the leak. You might want to contact them:

they may be able to provide some info to you. On the site they have a press release regarding the new EPA Regulations and how the tanks will build up to 5psi before venting.

katieclooney- Just read this on the Moeller website. I don't know where you bought yours but maybe it wasn't set up correctly

Note: For ease of installation Withdrawal Assemblies are not
tightened down when shipped.
1. Ensure tank is empty.
2. Remove Withdrawal Assembly from the tank.
3. Apply Teflon tape to threads on Connector.
4. Hand tighten the Connector to the Withdrawal Assembly,
then tighten another 1/4 turn with wrench.
5. Hand tighten the Withdrawal Assembly to the tank, then
tighten another 3/4 of a turn with slip pliers while holding
the Connector in the desired direction with wrench.
