My family and I (6 adults & 3 kids) are taking a vacation this weekend (Thurs-Sun) to Orange Beach, Alabama. We are staying at The Caribe (A tear drop on map) which located on the bay side. I will haul our toon with us and put it in the water on the West side of Cotton Bayou and keep it at the dock behind the caribe. From the looks of the aerial photos of the area it looks like there is lots of inshore area to explore. Even some small islands directly North of the caribe. If it's calm enough they also have a channel to go out into the gulf. I hope my old 2000 model GMC Sierra 1500 with 250K miles will prove itself again to be like a rock at 8mpg. It proved itself last year with no issues hauling the toon to Destin, FL which is further than AL. Anyone familiar with this area or ever been tooning in this area with any advice?

Berkshire,
I will be 50 miles west on Dauphin Island! no Toon though! We don't arrive till Saturday night.
Can't help you on what to do at OB. We stay put on the island!
Good luck!

Thanks for the pictures. Orange Beach and Gulf Shores has really done a great job of reinventing themselves since the big hurricane and the oil spill. They're fantastic places to go for Summer vacations.
Virtually all our friends have condo's and houses in the area, and they visit October to March. The Summer months are spent renting them to vacationers.
Have a good trip over there.

We made it to the Caribe in Orange Beach in one piece at 6 mpg. I hope the Bama fans don't key our pontoon. Let the fun begin. I'll post pics when get back.

If the water is not too rough, you MUST try Dixey Bar at Fort Morgan. Bull Reds that are a blast to fish. Also many Jack Crevale that I have fought for an hour. Doesn't look too bad from where you are, but stay outside the shipping channel and you can have a blast doing the "Dixey Shuffle". I'd check Google to see about the fishing this time of year. I go in the spring or fall and the fish jump all over croakers.
