Calling all Xcursion owners! A favor? Maybe?

#1 Post by 68dodgeramman » Wed Jul 24, 2013 9:54 am

Well, now that the new Xcursion is on its way I want to design and cut the MC numbers and name out. That way as soon as the boat arrives I can apply the vinyl lettering and head out to the lake! The only problem is; I don't know what the measurements are on the upper most. I need from the aluminum rail to aluminium rail. I have the x23rf and want to apply the lettering on the corner top panel. Thanks for any help. Or should I say, measurements lol

I think that most states have a 3" size on boat numbers. Hope that helps. Don't you need the boat in order to get your numbers?

Thanks for the reply. Yes you're right. The MC#s are to be at least three inches tall. And I will need the boat for the actual numbers. But I mainly need the measurements to do the lay out and design of the name for the back. For the MC numbers I can just do the lay out on the computer with a generic "MC 0000 RT" just to make sure they fit. Then when I get the actual numbers all I need to do is enter them in the file I already have made up and cut them out. All fonts being different, if I go 3" high for one font the entire length of the numbers could end up being 5 feet long. On another font at 3 inches high they may be only 18 inches long. And I try not to squeeze the lettering up or down too much on the computer because it distorts the fonts and makes it hard to read or just plain looks outta whack. Sometimes way too much! So that's why I needed the dimensions. Thanks again.

No thanks James, lol. I'll post pics once they're done. I'm thinking about doing them in gold leaf. But maybe that's too much for a toon. I don't know. What do you guys think?

Now gold leaf sounds cool go for it I think you'll like the way it looks. I went with Ultra Metallic Reg #s from Overtons http://www.overtons.com/modperl/product ... rchID=4006 and am happy with them.

Gonefishing -

I'm glad to hear that you like your Xcursion! Makes me feel good about my decision to get one. Also I appreciate you taking the time to get measurements for me if I still need them.

I've got metallic gold and metallic silver in stock and it does look good. I've used it it for quite a few jobs. Many were boats too! But I always wanted to do a gold leaf job but hadn't had the chance....until now! Lol

Gold leaf sounds interesting......
Here's ours in chrome with a black outline. I really wanted a fading out black outline but these turned out OK.

I own/operate a small sign and lettering business so I won't be ordering anything from online for more than one reason, lol. But yes I'll be lettering it myself. And yeah I think I might go with gold leaf and maybe a two color outline.

Capt. Sully and Rob -
Your lettering looks good! I've done a couple of boats with chrome. They turned out real nice. One was an Xcursion in fact!

Thanks Bob! That's perfect! Your name in silver works real good with the aluminum rails. It looks very good on the blue.
