WOT 17.7 mph???

#1 Post by landlockedsailor » Thu Jul 25, 2013 4:15 am

Does that sound reasonable? I have 21' Suntracker Fishin' Barge with a Merc 60hp Bigfoot on the back. Only got to 17.7 mph, WOT. It weighs 1,873 lbs. Add the anchor and some lines and two people and it seemed like trolling speed next to the WOTs you all are getting. Is this normal?

I have the same boat with a 50 HP Merc on it and thats about my max.
So I would think you should be topping me a bit more than that.
Could be prop thing though.

But I've never been late to anyplace on the lake, so 17 is OK with me.
I often wonder if Jimmy really did crack corn, and why should I care?

I think that's a little slow but not to far off. My 24' with a Yamaha 50 Hp. runs 18.5 on GPS with all the normal gear on board and 2-3 adults.

24' Suntracker with 60hp Bigfoot and I get about 18 wide open. Good enough for me.

If you want to go faster it just takes money. ;)

Unfortunately, that sounds normal. Reason I'm getting a jetski.

I have the exact same setup. With two people onboard, a heavy Terrova 80lb thrust Trolling motor and two battery's on the front, no wind, calm waters I can get 18 - 19, with 19 pushing it at WOT.

I get 18mph with my 40hp but my boat is only 18ft. So a 17-18 mph on your 21ft with a 60 hp sounds reasonable.

Yeah, I've got the party barge with a Bigfoot 60 and we're about the slowest thing on the lake. We race canoes.

It gets us to the anchor spot, though.
