Overall trip was great.
Thursday: Travel day, headed down, settled in (rented house) We were up the Niangua arm about the 7.5 mile marker in a nice cove. Short ride to the 54 brige and back. Supper with some family that lives in the area, short boat ride for the kids in the evening. Saw a large slip and slide down a hill into the lake.
Friday: Kind of dodged rain, but never really got wet. Went to Fish and CO. up Linn creek for lunch. Headed up the Osage Arm (main channel) to the 38 mile marker and back home for supper. Wife, sister and I went out at night to Naughti Fish (Niangua arm just upstream of the Hwy 5-7 bridge) in the evening. They had a one man band that was good. We met the new owners, three guys fresh out of college from out east, bought the place in June from a re-po. Good time, big thunderstorm brewed up while we were there, so we stuck around til later when all the rain passed and headed back in the dark. Thanks to all the blue lights on the docks, it's easy to see the channel. Got to see a great lighting show off to the east from the storm that passed.
Saturday: Headed to the end of the Niangua arm to Ha Ha Tonka state park. We used the docks and hiked up the hill to the old castle ruins. Back down to the boat, coved out for awhile and watched the boats roll in. There is a fresh spring there and the water temp is about 5 degrees cooler in that cove, so everyone likes it when it's hot. Headed back up to the Naughti Fish for lunch. They had a comedian/one man band that was good. He got my Mom and Dad up there cause it's their 40th wedding anniversary, it was a good time. After that headed up the Little Niangua arm a ways, then back home for a light supper. I think I gained 5 pounds from all the good food.
I did get complimented from an onlooker on my docking job at the Naughti Fish. Of coarse the deck overlooks the docks. They were busy as hell, only open slip is in the middle of two rows of courtesy docks. They need to have them further apart, cause the boats on each side only left about 12' between them, then I had to get turned into the slip. I actually had to back in the slip with 100K boats on all sides. Talk about nerve racking, cause I knew the owners of them had to be watching.
Sunday: head for home.
