Your feedback indicated our WOT OF 17.7 mph is considered in the normal range for our toon. A number of you mentioned having Waverunners that satisfy your need for speed. Bowing to your experience, we pulled the trigger on a couple of Yamaha FX Cruisers, HO and SHO.

Wow, they're FAST, fun and pretty quiet. We've been touring and snooping around KY Lake checking out possible fishing spots, swimming holes, and anchorages. What used to take hours to get to is now only minutes away (and we're not even at WOT-almost scary), so we're getting more of the lay of the land (newbies to KY too).

Thanks for your recs. I was hating these things 'til we got one. And JSYK, we're very considerate of other pontoons, fishermen, no-wake zones, and quiet coves.

PWC's are everywhere on our lakes. Just about every pier/boathouse has a couple of them sitting there.

My Waverunner VX gets about 10 mpg, and I use it to go up into the small coves/sloughs (nosing around) where my pontoon boat's difficult to turn around.

You purchased a couple of the hotter machines on the market. Just make sure any operators are mature enough to handle such machines because they can make an idiot out of someone that is responsible on dry land. And make sure you have good physical damage and liability coverage on your machines.

Wow, those new machines look cool. It's amazing how much fun money can buy. If you ever want a true adventure trailer them down here to Florida and zip across the Gulf Stream to the Bahamas. It's about 50 miles from Miami to Bimini. That trip is on my bucket list.

Bamaman, insured w/ BoatUS but they will only cover depreciated value on jet skis. Disappointing as our toon is covered for agreed value. I'll check to make sure there's liability in there too. And only we will be in the drivers' seats. We're 'sessed about keeping our toys, tools, equipment, etc. looking and running good.

These ARE hot machines, tho I confess it was the seats that caused us to move up from our original purchase plans. Keeps our old butts planted and comfortable (I almost slid off the back of our neighbor's jet ski when he hit the throttle hard from a dead stop!) on a demo ride. The cruise control was a cool feature for our arthritic hands too. God it sucks getting old!

Ron, a trip across the Gulf Stream on a waverunner??? And I thought I was doing good to go 11 miles up to the dam. You're braver than I am!!! And, with what these things cost, we could have put a Boeing 747 engine on our toon!

Havin' a ball, been great fun re-treading from the farm in MO to the lake in KY. Retirement is not over-rated!
