dry rack storage

#1 Post by CRF8 » Thu Aug 29, 2013 2:44 pm

So we kept the pontoon in a marina over the summer, very handy, no towing or ramp issues.

Apparently their forklift operator tried to lift the trailer and boat together, with his forks picking up the trailer beams that support

the upright arms for the inner carpet covered guides. Now the metal twisted and is 5 inches out of alignment.

The bolts holding the wood guides to the upright metal arms popped out and the wood fell a foot or 2 until

it rested on the regular trailer frame. I cant wait to tell the marina and hear their denials

This is not the first time we've heard complaints with dents on pontoons by forklifts.

Anyone that keeps their pontoon boat in a out of the water storage warehouse needs to have a rack to sit the boat on. The forklift actually lifts the rack and doesn't bend up the boat.

There is one company that makes the racks commercially. Or, you can have one welded up. It takes about $500 in steel plus labor to fabricate one.
