Cross member I beam sizing

#1 Post by erndog105 » Sat Sep 07, 2013 6:54 pm

Currently looking for 18 foot toon. I have a lift supporting 3inch by 9.5 foot I beams. Boat weight with a few folks should not exceed 2500 pounds.
My question Is the 3 inch beam too small? Do I need to go to 4 inch (s4x7.7).
What are others using?
Thanks this is all new to me.

If you're running 3" cross member I beams, you're okay.

I'm using 4" channel iron, and it's working fine on a much larger boat.
