Sweetwater 2286TT - Trailer question

#1 Post by COTTS4x4 » Sat Sep 07, 2013 7:13 pm

I'm looking at purchasing a 2013 Sweetwater 2286 Triple Toon with 150 horse Yamaha from a friend. He's selling his lake house and the boat has to go. This boat has what Sweetwater calls the T.O.T.A.L Package with three toons, the middle one though is flat at the rear (called their launchpad) and also has lifting strakes. He doesn't have a trailer for it so I'm wondering if this boat will take something different than a standard tritoon trailer? I will check with the local dealer where the boat was purchased and see how they set them up, but I figured with all the knowledge on this site someone here would know.

Thanks for the help.

If it's a full length center tube, it'll require support in the middle. Most new trailers now have brackets down the center to easily add the center tube support. If you are just going to move the boat twice a year a short distance to a storage lot, you could get away with a standard pontoon trailer.

I sold my pontoon trailer back in the '80's, and borrowed a trailer a couple of times for maintenance. But any pontoon boat will be maintained better and last longer if it has its own trailer. (My boat stays on a lift inside a boathouse.)

Now that I have a trailer, I'm using my boat to go to other area lakes, and that's very enjoyable. My boat's sitting in my driveway right now behind a 3/4 ton crewcab truck--over 47' in length total. I had forgotten that it takes a lot of room to store one of these things on a trailer.

Thanks for your reply. It will always be on the trailer so I want to be sure its right. It is a full length center tube, just goes flat at the rear. I also have a crewcab long box superduty so I know what you mean about the length.

Here's the best pic I can find of the tube design, its a youtube video, but if you jump to 45 seconds it shows the undercarriage for about 30 seconds.
