Which boat lift?

#1 Post by GGALVIN » Sun Nov 24, 2013 10:35 am

I need to buy a lift for my 22' pontoon, which will be docked on the main lake of Lake of the Ozarks. Looking at several makes and am not sure, as I am a first-time buyer. Is Poly Lift the best/strongest? Sure is the most expensive. Any guidance will be appreciated - even if it is to tell me to stay away from a certain make. Thanks in advance.

I am not a lift expert but over the years I have owned 3 different lifts at Lake of the Ozarks. All of them were Poly Lifts. One was new, and two were used. I never had a problem with any of the 3 and they were all very easy to sell when it was time. I think they are expensive for a reason.... they seem to be excellent lifts. If I was buying another lift, I am pretty sure I would go with Poly Lift again.

You can also watch for used ones if you want. Dock Realty often has them, or watch Lake Expo and other local sources. You can still have them professionally installed, and as far as I know just about any used lift can be modified for your toon.

I am sure there are many other good lifts. I had 3 out of 3 positive experiences with my Poly Lifts, though.

We have had real good luck with the Hydro Hoist we bought used. Be sure it has a rough water kit, even if you are not on the main channel. Sooner or later a cruiser is going to come back in your cove throwing 4' rollers. :2cents

I'm not saying let's go kill all the stupid people.. I'm just saying let's remove all the warning labels and let the problem work itself out.

So far, I've been very happy with my two Hydro Hoists on Grand Lake.

I have a Hydro Hoist for a 24 foot Bennington Pontoon and love it. I am on Lake of the Ozarks.
I purchased a Cover from Marine Concepts (not cheap it was $4800) that slides over the boat and covers below the deck all around including the motor. It is great - no more snaps and no more pollen on the sides of the pontoon walls.
