Can I replace part of the floor without redoing all of it??
Long story short, replaced floor 2 years ago on an old Playbuoy. Was sold "marine grade" wood that obviously wasn't marine grade and 2 years later we have a rotting spot. The weak spot is about 1'x2'. Im getting ready to get a new boat, don't wanna fool with redoing the whole deck. Can I just cut out the bad spot (beam to beam) and replace it? Has anyone ever tried this?

I would think if you already have a soft spot, you should just replace it all anyway since the rest probably isn't far behind. Also for the fact of selling it. It may be a tough full disclosure sale with a bad deck. Probably worth more with the proper decking.

That means someone else will get sold a boat that will disappoint the new owners and might put someone off pontoons for good, sorry for your bad luck, but if you asked we would have told you to look for seven layers to make sure you were sold the right stuff, but please don't pass your mistake to someone else.

Don't do it...
Your asking for bad karma if you push your bad deck off to someone else.

Marine grade plywood has 7 layers instead of the normal 5 of construction grade, and as you have learned the hard way, it is a lot of work to tear a boat apart and re deck. A bad deck kills any resale value. A inspection will show its been patched and kill the value. I have bought several boats and I assume I will have to re deck and for that reason I wont put more than 2000 in one and that is if ever thing else is in top shape, running motor, good furniture, working controls and gages and so on. Around here a boat with a bed deck and good toons is worth 500 with good furniture 1000, with a working motor may be 1500 and on a good trailer 2000, and thats it. I used to buy boats for 500 and re deck them over a winter and sell for 1500.
