Impeller change on E-Tec

I changed my water pump yesterday on my 90 E-Tec.

I ask the shop guy at Eufaula what he charges and he said $135.00. The impeller was $ 44.00 and to change you must remove the bottom cowls so the shift rod that connects under the powerhead can be disconnected. The impeller change was normal but you need 2 people to re-install the bottom cowls.
Next time I am paying the $ 135.00

I was doing that on my Yamaha. Everything was going fine until I noticed some lower unit oil around the impeller. My upper seal was leaking.. Off to the mechanic. I just took the lower since it was already off. He was reasonable. He fixed the seal, installed the new water pump kit and changed the lower oil for 180 bucks. I felt lucky at that price.

Loyd, was that at Total Marine? I've heard of a new place someplace near where 9 and 9A meet. I've heard the guy there has better prices but I haven't gone and checked yet. I thought about taking mine there at the end of this season to have the impeller changed on my motor. Thanks for the price on the job in Eufaula -- that gives me a comparison. That just looks like a job I don't want to tackle on my own.
