#1 Post by Hawk_308 » Sat Apr 26, 2014 3:51 pm

Lesson 1 ..... Dont do it , pay some wino to do it for you .
Lesson 2 . If you didnt learn from lesson 1 , start by sanding with the roughest sand paper that doesnt cut down to the aluminum .
Lesson 3 Aircraft paint remover> Home depot premium Paint remover > standard paint remover
Lesson 4 Apply as thick as possible , spray bottle over paint brush
Lesson 5 Home depot sells cheap plastic paint scrappers that work good .
Lesson 6 Use the thickest most chem longest glove you can find , it melted every thing I got from HD , I had some heavy chem gloves from work that held

The PO had rolled 2 coats of paint on the toons ... :nono :x

After piddling with it all day , I had just sprayed the spots again

Baking soda blasting or sandblasting would take all the paint off easily.

I've removed paint for two aluminum boats, one 14' v hull and a 18' mod v. I said I'd never do it again after the first one but I did and I did it on a bigger boat :nutkick huge job for sure, the blasting idea would be the best bet for sure though if you ever did it again.
