Mercury 75 efi running on hose

#1 Post by Drmanko » Thu May 01, 2014 7:24 pm

Hi guys,

Prepping the pontoon for the summer, and while running on the hose I noticed a stream/trickle of water I never noticed before. Not sure if it is normal or not. So it is on a 2012 Mercury 75 4 stroke. While running this stream is coming from a small hole in the lower gearcase just in front of the gear lube level hole. Here is a link to a quick video I uploaded to YouTube

Is this normal?

Lol I just posted the same thing with my Yamaha 90hp. I never noticed it last year. I think it's normal. Well I hope it is.

Yep, it's normal. It's the drain hole for the water to drain out of the motor so it won't crack anything when it freezes.
