2014 Merc 115 RPM's too high!?

#1 Post by Dusto » Wed May 14, 2014 6:41 am

Brand new 2014 Mercury 115 four stroke. Tachometer goes to 7000 rpms. When I take the toon to WOT it is reading well over 7000rpm’s. I would guess 7500rpm’s or so.... I know it shoudl be between 5800-6400 rpms.

It goes into the dealer next week to be looked at. I am thinking prop issue or tachometer issue? Thoughts?

I bet the tach is set to the wrong pole in the back. (range selector in the pic \ c = # of cylinders)

I'm with Curtiscapk.
I'd bet the tach is setup incorrectly, or the tach isn't adjusted correctly.
