Thanks, supposedly the owner of Crest , Joe Curran , is calling me today to save a sale . I wont hold my breath. I boat on the 5th largest lake in the state, lots of Bennys and Aqua Patios , as two local dealers are close to the lake. I wanted something different. This would be a great promo boat for Crest on our water. No Crest dealers close but one is actually considering taking the line on next year.

We take people out all the time and hang out on some different sand bars with 100's of potential boat buyers. Lots from Fox Lakes sales area . I have only seen one other Crest on our water so it would be good for them to have this model up there.

I did find a Manitou SHP with a 250 HO etec on it , in stock , but I would be settling . And for 65K I dont want to settle. It is a great boat , just doesnt have all the bells and whistles we ordered on the Crest. Plus I am a Verado fan.

FWIW: After being promised 6-8 wks (tops) delivery, my Harris took 12, then really bad weather delayed pickup.

I got PO'ed and almost cancelled until I realized the reason I ordered was because I couldn't find a suitable used one, with package and engine.

Oddly, shortly after ordering, a used well-eqipped Bennington 24 with a Yamaha 250 showed up. If I had known my boat was to be so delayed, I would have jumped on it at 48K. I tried to find this boat again, when I learned of the 4 wk delay. I'd likely bought it.

You had a nice boat lined up. I hope you and the Crest guy can work something out. My dealer put no charge on my invoice for the Sharkhide application. I thought it was an appropriate gesture given what happened.

Sorry to hear about your situation....

If the Crest Prez guy does call...he can ..without question make it happen...if he is in fact the President of the company and not one of the dealer's imposters. If he justs starts trying to use excuses or playing the empathy card for the supposed " accident" I would immediately challenge him with that nonsense. They made you promises and they need to honor that promise...it's called integrity. If not either cut your ties or have them deliver you a better boat on the promised delivery date. Your 65k puts you totally in the power position and you don't have to take any bs now..I am riled up because I had a similiar siutation ..a promise from a dealer for delivery before Memorial Day. I ended up with a different color "recently delivered" boat as a compromise. My situation was that Verado's were so far backordered. The boat was ready but not the motor...for me I actually am glad I ended up with the other color and love it.

Good luck and go with your gut....

$65K or $6500, A Deal is a Deal and should be Honored by the Dealer/Supplier.

Sooner or later, Business owners are going to have to go back to remembering that.

Some still do, but sadly they're all too few and far in between.

A quote from my Grandfather should be in every shop, every employee lounge and in every Corporate and Political Boardroom.

"If You don't have time to do something right the first time, when do you plan on finding time to go back and do it over again?"

Update, today is 9 weeks and the boat is still not here. I am pissed but pretty much gave up . It supposed to be here this week . Yeah right. I have not found a comparable boat so I guess we wait. Dealer pretty much said if you want it great if not thats ok too , we will sell it to someone else. Ass holes , owner of Crest will not return my calls now. Yeah I probably said some not so nice things to him but WTF !

If you're getting all this grief before the sale, how do you think you'll be treated after you sign on the dotted line? Boat or no boat, I would run.

THIS!

+1000

I'd be putting my money somewhere else.

And this is far more prevalent than you'd think.

Was in a restaurant last night with family.

The order for three of four of us came out wrong.

I sent it back. I was paying the tab.

The waiter tried arguing with me.

I pointed out I wasn't trying to be difficult, but that we'd plainly stated our order, and that we'd either get what we ordered or we'd leave.

He told us he didn't care one way or the other.

The owner did.

He wasn't very happy to see three plates of food come back to the kitchen.

He was even less happy to see us walking out the door with the 4th plate untouched and the bill unpaid.

In this case, it appears the Dealer doesn't care whether or not you spend money with him.

I'd oblige him and spend it elsewhere.

And I'd probably do what my late Father-in-Law once did to a car dealer who tried jerking him around.

He promptly went down the road a ways, and bought a brand new Car from a competing dealer.

He drove up to the jerk dealer and honked his horn till someone came out.

He asked for the owner.

When the owner came out, my FIL pointed to the window sticker, and then pointed to the Bill of Sale marked "Paid In Full".

Told the guy he'd just screwed himself out of a sale, got in his car and drove off.

If I were you, I'd buy a new boat and trailer it past the idjit dealer who doesn't want a sale.

I'd say that you need to think about the future and any issues that will arise with the new boat. What happens when a radio speaker doesn't work, a tachometer or mph gauge is not working properly or a motor issue pops up? You are going to be stuck dealing with this dealer. Imagine an issue comes up and you start thinking about taking it in for service. How are you going to feel about that? Are you going to dread it or will you think its just part of owning a boat and know that they'll make it right. If they don't care about getting your money from a 65k sale how motivated do you think they'll be for warranty work? It could be something trivial or something big but every time you have something, and you will have something crop up, you will be forced to deal with this company. Every. Time.

Boating is supposed to be fun. Its relaxing and restful. A place to let things slip away, enjoy time with friends and family on the water and forget about everything else, if only for a day. If your unhappy with the dealer you may find yourself reminded every time you take the boat out of what you had to go through and that if anything breaks you are going to have to deal with these guys again.
