Front Bimini for toon

#1 Post by Gonefishing » Fri May 30, 2014 8:16 pm

Looking at adding a front Bimini to my toon. Checked with the dealer and manufacture they want 1700. Seems like a lot to me dealer said it is cause everything will be the same as the rear. What do others think is a aftermarket just as good?

I would vote for finding an aftermarket one. Ours is aftermarket from pontoonspecialists.com

I should also clarify. I can't attest to any other sites quality. My only reason I ordered from where I did is because they had black canvas at the 8'6" wide option. No other sites I found had that listed at the time.

I too bought my 8 1/2' wide second bimini from pontoonstuff.com. i asked for 'something free' to be tossed in... so, along with the 10% discount, i got a free tshirt!

my 'factory' bimini is 8' long; i moved it to the front; put a 10' one in the back.

you're being ripped off. for that kind of money, you can almost get two electric ones!

i figure, as long as the frame is 1 1/4" square tubing, and the fabric is Sunbrella... you can't go wrong.

Go with the after market like PlaynDoc said just make sure it has Sunbrella fabric one of the best buys I've made.

Is there a difference between the front and rear tops or does the rear fit on the bow?

when i bought both mine at same time they was same but if you wont you can get the two with a zipper to connect the two if you liked that way. I looked for few weeks before buying and compared everything i found as far as materials, cost, complete kit form, installation, other reviews, shipping cost.

I have the factory Sun Tracker stern bimini. Tracker wanted $750 to add a bow bimini  These were $200 on eBay, color doesn't exactly match, but I'm not a picky bastid anyway :rofl

I don't know about just as good but I bought one on Ebay for $199.00 two years ago and it still looks great and works as well as the factory top. The material is not quite as thick as the factory top but it's actually been more mildew resistant than the expensive on.

The first owner of my Suntracker bought the factory stern top and had the dealer install it. They seemed to have just reversed it 180 degrees. Don't recall the cost, not cheap, but the tops zipper together for a seamless 20' cover.
