My new to me Sweetwater Pontoon with a 25 hp Tohatsu does not have a fuel water separator on it just a
Six gallon portable tank.
I was thinking how many have boats that came with them.

I am guessing that the F/W separator is an option on any boat, either by the mfg. or the dealer. It's a good idea and would probably get one on my next new boat

I had one on my Beachcomber, but I bought it at west marine it had a filter above a clear bowl at the bottom to see and drain water. A must have as far as I am concerned.
For the rebuild I bought a racor from Overtons. Same setup only smaller, handles up to 30 gal per hour. It would seem that when you are purchasing an expensive new boat, it would have one, but go figger.

Both the Manitou and the Premier came with them installed. I changed them out yearly.

My Sweetwater with a Yammy came with one. It might have been part of the engine rigging at the dealer though.

I don't know that I'd bother putting one on a 25 hp motor, however.

The 78, mako with 112 Johnson did not have one but I added it when I redoing the boat.
I was not sure if the 25hp was to small to need a F/W separator

Most engines made since the late '90s have the fuel/water separator on the engine. The fuel "filter" is also the separator.
I don't know about other makes but Mercury recommends that you DON'T install any other in-line filters. Modern engines are fuel pressure sensitive and an additional filter may cause a restriction in the fuel flow. A restriction in fuel flow can overheat the fuel pump and cause it to fail.
