Fast idle
Hey guys got a 08 Mercury 115 hp 4 stroke that's doing something I don't get, had the wrong prop on it when I bought and would only turn 4900 rpm, when I was trying to figure it out I pushed in the neutral button to rev it up to see it was a collapsed fuel line and it would only run up to 2300 rpm and sputter like crazy, put a different prop on it and it now runs 6100 rpm now, why won't it rev in neutral? Thanks

Re: Fast idle
I do not think you can get full RPM's on neutral to prevent blowing the motor. I know I cannot with the three different boats that I owned.

Re: Fast idle
depends on the controller you have most will not allow to rev up all the way, for above mentioned reasons.
if it ain't broke-it ain't ours

Re: Fast idle
Or your throttle cable is set too loose. The fast idle arm only has the ability to move the throttle arm about 1/4 of the throw. If the cable is loose then you might be using a lot of the first 1/4 before the cable actually moves the throttle arm. Mine has enough movement to get my engine to hit the 3000rpm neutral rev limiter but a fast idle/warmup lever is really not needed with todays EFI/DFI engines.

Re: Fast idle
That might be it, my shifter is stiff and neutral is a little hard to find
