Asking for Prop Help on Yamaha 4 stroke 150

I am running a new Yamaha 4 stroke 150 on my 25' Aloha with sundeck. It is a twin 'toon heavy built boat but I don't know the weight. I am running a Yamaha Reliance series 14.5" diameter and 15 Pitch prop which runs about 31 mph at 5300rpm. My mechanic tells me I need to be turning close to 6000 at WOT but the Reliance series prop doesn't go lower in pitch than the 15 I have. Does anyone have any suggestions on another prop that might get me closer to the recommended WOT range? Thanks. JB

Yamaha has other series of stainless props, but only which one is a 13 pitch--if that's the pitch you need. The part number is SG5-45932-00-00. Since your engine's new, see if your dealer will swap you.

I knew your propeller question was going to be a little different when you said you had the sundeck.

Thanks, Bamaman. My dealer will swap with me but just trying to figure out what to swap to. He has ordered me a 13 pitch Yamaha prop that Yamaha says is just for pontoon boats. I am anxious to see how it does.

I think that it's a dealer's responsibility to get the correct propeller and engine setup to where your boat performs its best.

My dealer kind'a sneered when I told him to order me a Reliance 15 and that I'd be returning that M14 prop that was over-reving and 3 mph slower than expected. I guess I was still perturbed about my boat being delivered with 5 gallons of gas--rather than a full 21 gallon tank full.

Looks like your dealer's stepping up and doing what's right.
