Mercury not starting

The lanyard switch is up, fuse under the engine cover is good, it cranks but getting no fire at the plugs, it was great till last time we took it out, I need to pointers of where to look

I wonder if my key switch went bad, guess I need to drop it out so I can check it

I dont think its a key switch. Do outboards have a stater? Those damn things are known to do that, work fine until you shut them off, then they just dont start. Or Im thinking maybe a safety switch. JT

Check if when the key is on that you have power at the fuse by the engine electronics.

Lanyard switch may be bad. That's my bet.

Herb,
same thing mine was doing.. It ended up being the switch box. Let me look for my troubleshooting docs.

I was looking through your rebuild because I remember you had firing problems, I didn't like the way the connector looked on the lanyard switch, does it send power to the engine, if so that could be it.
What really suck is when two things happen at once, the dumb ass mechanic we bought the engine from and help on some of the rebuild used a fuel line that had a liner that the ethanol let collapse, so we get that fixed and now it won't fire

Yea it cranks , just not starting, we pulled a plug and it's not firing

I sent my brother out to see if we had power at the engine fuse, I didn't like the way the connector looked on it, but didn't drop the switches so I can get to them, helm need a bigger door, hard to get two arms in at the same time and see too.

found it Herb! Try this guide. I replaced everything on mine starting with cheapest first..... probably switch box the hole time.
