How do you label your life jackets with a name?

I have at least 10 life jackets hanging in my garage. I'd like to label each one with the name of the person who belongs to that individual jacket, so we don't have to go thru them all each time to find out which jacket belongs to who. Any suggestions? Is it a problem if I use a sewing machine to sew on a label? Suggestions please.

perhaps a permanent marker... since names can be long, assign each person an number. write the number on the inside of the back portion... as it fades, go over it again....
ours arent labeled...
we have 3 that only *we* use, and they are distinctive in style and size. all the remaining jackets are for visitors, and whoever grabs which one first, is the one they use.

Sharpie and a steady hand.
DO NOT sew anything onto the lifejacket. Any alterations would void the USCG approval and make it "unserviceable".
While we have our badge patches on ours, they are sewn on at the factory

A couple of decades ago, I marked life jackets for my little fishing boat with a 'Sharpie'.
Those are still used as "Extra" life jackets and the markings are still legible.
And yes, I've checked them and they still float a person doing the "Dead Man Float".
So when we got the new toon, we marked all the Life Jackets with our Last Name and town.
Wifey and I each have "Our" life jackets and the rest are whoever grabs what that fits.
I've got "Kiddie" life jackets for the little ones and I actually have a "Big Man" Life Jacket that fit me when I was 100 lbs heavier for any of the "Portly" set.
