Bye Bye Box Anchor!!!

So I have a two step report....

Last weekend was extremely windy and stretched my Anchor Buddy to the point it broke! Luckily the weaving around the bungee held fast and saved my box anchor from living at the bottom of the lake!

This past weekend I replaced my Anchor Buddy with a temporary anchor rope until my new Anchor Buddy arrives. The clip on the temporary rope was a little beat up. Well...as I was standing on the front deck of my toon I watched in horror as the clip sprung off and the rope sank to the bottom of the lake with my box anchor attached! Obviously the Lake Gods had been calling for my box anchor as is evidenced by the near miss the previous weekend....and it's sacrifice this weekend. :punchballs

Soooo.....my Anchor Buddy and Box Anchor experienced 3 years of a fulfilling life aboard my toon. I now have their descendants on the way to fill the void they left as they are now in their final resting spot at the bottom of Lake Pomme de Terre. Here's a possible positive possibility..I actually have my name and cell number written on the side of the anchor! Hopefully a Mermaid will give me a call?

Lesson to Newbies...replace your cheap anchor rope clips with high quality clips or carabiners! :nono

I ran the end of the rope thru about a 10" piece of a swimming noodle and tied a knot above it just in case someone tossed the entire rope in or it came loose from the boat. Hopefully, if that happens the rope will float and I can retrieve it.

One word , S.C.U.B.A. Seriously do you dive or know someone that does? how deep is the spot and is there any visability.

Millionaire cove in Lake of the Ozarks claimed one of my anchors 3 years ago, stuck between some rocks, it was lodged so tight I could not budge it. Had to dive in and cut the anchor line about 10-15 foot underwater so it would not be another boaters prop hazard. Then 2 years ago, when Denise was pulling anchor, she pulled up an almost identical anchor, rode an all! Even trade from the LotO lake God!

Sorry about your loss! My condolences! I would hate to loose my box anchor.

I really like your idea of adding your name and number to the anchor. Maybe some day you two will be reunited.

How about a proper cleat for your anchor rode? And skill to bend the rode to the cleat...
