Not only jet skis but stupid drivers. A similar thing happened this weekend here on lake st.clair but with a go fast boat. A guy in a 25' baja was going 50mph and ran right up on top of a cabin cruiser going 10mph. Separated the fly bridge from the hull of the boat killing 2 and sending more the hospital. Way to many stupid people on the water.

A jet ski is a fast machine they can have 260hp in a very small package. A machine like that goes 0-60 in 3sec. My guess he was inexperienced and gave it a blast of throttle and lost control. You should run a ski in that shallow of water as is sucks in sand and rocks from the bottom.

My Progressive insurance on a $6500 Waverunner is $320 a year.
My Progressive insurance on a $40K Bennington tritoon with a F150 Yamaha is $220 per year.
Insurance companies have more claims on PWC's, and the average claims are very high.
I have noticed that since our state went to requiring boating safety courses and written tests to get boat drivers licenses, PWC accidents have reduced dramatically. You have to be a licensed 12 year old to even run a boat. I seldom see anything really crazy happening on our lake, and virtually every dock and boathouse has one or two PWC's sitting on them.

I see it all the time. The idiot was coming in to do a splash run on the girl, and was totally oblivious that PWCs do not turn with the throttle off.
Gotta admit... pretty impressive airtime, and he really stuck the landing.

I thought it was pretty funny when the black girl just walked away, not bothering to check on the two on the ground. I guess she was pissed cause her photo op was busted! Or, that could've been a pretty good photo bomb!!!

My guess is it was a series of events on a tropical vacation where they rented the PWC not knowing anything about them other than looking like a blast.
After a short training by the rental company and they are off, a couple loops and the "Hey! I got this down! Lets go spray Stephanie" followed by "WHY DOESN'T THIS THING TURN IN SHALLOW WATER??"
Shame the F-tard had to have a passenger aboard when he stupid arose and tapped him on the shoulder.
