labor day weekend

Well it was a successful weekend at the lake! On Saturday the plan was to just go to the big cove and stay there. Heading that way anything over 4,00 rpms the motor would rev up and just sound weird. I wasn't too concerned since it ran perfect at anything under 4k. We brought the party island that we got on vacation when the previous renters of the beach house left it there with leaks which I patched up. That thing is awesome! While anchored in the cove the lake mutt 'taxi" and I would swim to shore so she could pee. The last time I went to take her I floated over to toon on the tube and all be damned if she didn't jump on it! We floated as close to shore as the rope would allow and she jumped in the rest of the way.
While cleaning the seats I thought maybe my plugs are acting up... sure enough! I changed them out with the last set I had and even though the plugs were used it ran great! Heading out Sunday for a further trip I hit it and man she took off! 5100 @ 20 mph with 9 on board and some heavy chop.. We found a new beach that is a ton better than our usual one. Just a little muddy but super clean! Heading back out my granddaughter wanted to tube with her mom, as long as I didn't go fast...Well by the end of the 5 mile run she started out going 10 and ended up at 16 mph with a couple burst to 19! She was hot dogging with one hand and thumbs ups all in super heavy chop!
All and all it was a great weekend! We did have to put THE FLOATER away wet on Monday she should be fine. My trailer jack broke on us and while trying to get it to stay on blocks I heard a bunch of water in the toons. I think I may have found my speed issue! I am thinking about drilling a hole in them to drain them and plugging with rubber washer and screw then silicone the hell out of them. What do you guys think? Oh by the way Loyd had a great tip when you have a stubborn lower unit plug that just won't take a screwdriver, use an older tire iron with the screwdriver end. That worked awesome on one of the screws! Thanks Loyd!
