Pontoon Boat & Deck Boat Forum

Hello, I'm new here and full of questions. What do you know about zinc anodes? I do occasionally use my toon in saltwater. I don't store it or keep it in salt water more than a few hours at a time. Of course I wash and flush it well afterwords.
My question is, do I need anodes on my toons or will the engine abides suffice?
If I need them on the toons, how do I attach them?
Anyone have pics?

I have the "salt water edition" on my Xcursion (the dealer orders all his boats with this package) and aside from the zinc anode on the motor, there are brackets on the back of each pontoon where the zinc anodes are mounted. Sorry I don't have a picture.

Read post three in this thread AND I also suggest if possible, find some fresh water on your way home from your salt water outing and dump the boat in and run it for a few minutes AND get the trailer in as deep as possible and let it sit/soak long as possible.

Yep they are called sacrificial anodes. and you want to use them so as not to sacrifice your aluminum logs. What will happen is there will a bunch of little pits in places you may not even be able to see and they will grow until you can put a quarter in to them on the flat side. I have seen it in steel and aluminum.



That is the most beautiful color blue I think I have seen since I left the south Pacific!
