New railing section ruined by FedX

I just received this replacement 3/4 rail section from Premier to install on the boat. It has no open side panels in it, to prevent a childs head/body from being wedged in the upper section. Nice hole in the back of it from FedX, huh! I think I can carefully open up the railing crimp and use what I need out of it. Its up to Premier if they want to send me another complete section or not. But geez! Come on people. Someone knows he hit it with a forklift. Why would you not say anything at the terminal. Some people just have no pride in what they do. I'll keep you posted on the results. What a shame, Premier did a great job on custom building it for me!

[[/i]The employee should at least get a 15 yard penalty for "spearing." Shipper should pay for a new one. I had a fuel tank damaged in transit one time so I went to my welder and got a cheap quote...shipper agreed to pay half...Next time I deal with a shipper I will put in a claim for my time and a full price quote from my welder not my help out a buddy price.

Not that easy. We need to figure out who is paying for the new panel. Its not Premiers fault. Not mine. FedEx's! A claims adjuster called me last night. Will be here possibly this afternoon to look at it. In my opinion, they should fork out $3800.00 for the new one. We will see what he says later on. Whole thing just sucks!

I work for a company and we ship out a lot of freight truck shipments. They all have their problems. You would not believe the amount of calls we get for damaged freight from the trucking companies. We shipped out 4 - 1" steel hydraulic lines that were 10 feet each and they looked like pretzels when they arrived at the customers dock! We have decals that say do not stack, and I think they stack stuff on top just because, and damage the shipment. :donno

It's the same with USPS, FedEx, and UPS when you put "FRAGILE" on the outside the box it will arrive broken .

The appraiser stopped and said FedEx will more than likely stand by it. The proof was all there, the damaged box, packaging and of course the hole in the panel measured the same as a fork on a fork lift. Will keep you posted!

Good deal - now hopefully FedEx won't drag their feet with paperwork so you can get your new fence soon.

I bet Fed Ex will pay for it, but did I read that correctly? Is that really a $3800 piece of railing?

Yep, powder coated railing, paneling painted, pre-striped and wired for the bimini light. Parts-labor freight and tax... $3762.84
Didn't hear anything today. I had to start an account at FedEx for Claim correspondence...
We'll see what happens!

I take it you've never priced "dealer replacement" parts before... :punchballs
