What "KNOT" to do

I'm sharing this link I ran across:

http://www.animatedknots.com/indexboating.php

I've always had fun with knots and rope. To tie a spiffy knot is almost impressive as a perfect docking maneuver! There's always an audience.

I've been trying to educate a pontoon buddy who keeps his boat on a small neighborhood lake. He'll tie up with the worst wad-knot I've ever seen. I cringe whenever he grabs one of my mooring lines!

It always amazes me how most people can't even lace a mooring line on a cleat or kevel.

About the only one they missed is a one called monkey fist, thats for throwing a line the knot adds weight to the end.

Thanks for sharing, Zoom. I've bookmarked it.
I have a simliar problem, but it's with the Admiral. She doesn't understand that more (loops) is not always better. I've pretty well given up, let her tie off her end of the boat, then go back and redo it after she's finished.
If she were computer savvy, I'd send her the list!

Check out apps for your phone or tablet at your App Store too. They have some great free 3-D viewing apps where you can watch how tie them in motion at different speeds, angles, etc. sometimes when I'm just relaxing on our boat I'll open the app and practice different knots, bends and hitches.

I'm not afraid to admit it...my know of choice is one that resembles a cross between a birds nest and a big ball the size of a grapefruit....make sit harder for me to get it loos to steal the boat...lol
I've tried, bit other than a cleat hitch and a half hitch, I suck.
