jack plates

What is the best jack plate to use on a 93 24 ft sun tracker party barge with a 2003 Johnson 90 HP? I was wondering how much setback also I was thinking manual adjust because of price....

Got to wonder the same thing? A 24 foot party barge with a 90 HP is not going to be setting no speed records no matter if it's jacked up or down. Where does your cav plate run while your underway?

Two reasons I would want a jackplate:

To be able to raise motor for shallow water operation.

To allow motor to be adjusted for fine tuning speed and operation.

The set back is of no consequence, most motors are set back from the factory these days, I think its a good thing for handling.

My opinion is you can adjust the motor with the mounting holes good enough for the performance of the hp you have.

Jackplates aren't cheap id say spend the money on a good gps sonar or sumpn! :wink:
