Ok guys need your opinions.

I am tired of replacing my wooden transom. The kids agreed to get me an all aluminum one for xmas. I found a couple nearby but none of them have the dropdown in the end that my current one does that lowers the motor. I think the only reason for this dropdown is for the steering linkage to clear the rub rail. The pics below will help it make sense.
The length of the current transom is 6 ft. I found one the same length but straight across at the rear, my thought is to move it back 12 inches. That way my linkage will clear the rub rail. What do you think about the height of my motor as it sits now and when it will be 5 inches higher with the new transom. I will try and post titled pics so it all makes more sense.

Get the one that fits your needs and mount it out the back as far as needed. You'll be fine. A shot under way would be the best tool to use for height, but I'm guessing you are WAY low right now. Most 2 log toons have the exact opposite problem...they need to move the motor UP not down. I bet you'll find that getting the motor back and up will improve the performance noticeably.

Thanks Ty I was hoping for your input! BTW I fixed the new transom pics, I will be getting the monster one on the left not the right. Should allow for more boltable areas while still moving it aft. I am hoping for some more performance! and yes I know I need to underskin! I can fell the beat down going on under there everytime underway!

I never got one...I used 3 grade 8 bolts and some chain.

Check with Ferg I think he had one...I have his number if you need it.

I might be missing something. Usually the toilet at 3am but, why would you move the transom back as far as you can? Is it weight so the logs sit level for entertainment while under power? The closer I can get the engine to the end of a logs will give me lift on the bow. Moving the transom farther from the boat/logs would also increase force on the cross members that are not supported by the transom's mass.
