I called my insurance company Boat US. and gave them all the particulars, and took it to the shop for repairs.
I received an email explaining the process, and the fact that according to paragraph 27, sub paragraph 4 subsection 91 of my policy, (or whatever) that I may be responsible for depreciation in parts necessary for the repairs.
I looked for my copy of the policy, but for whatever reason, couldn't find it - Likely because i did it online, and it was in a folder somewhere in my house.... they sent me one.
Anyways...
After getting estimates that included a lower unit, motor pod, and the port pontoon, the bill came to $13,000 and change. I was suddenly excreting masonry from my bowels calculating how much my "depreciation" was going to cost.
Shortly after that, I was informed by Boat US that I had actually paid the additional $50 a YEAR for a "Waiver of Depreciation" which meant that I was NOT responsible for ANY depreciation at all in this claim and my only out of pocket was my deductible $128.
Check with your insurance company to see if you are subject to any 'depreciation' or if you can pay an additional fee to have it waived. I'm REALLY glad I did. Having it saved me literally Thousands of $$.
Boat US did right by me.
